Instructions

1. Tick the operations you want (for example, Addition and Subtraction).
2. For each one, choose how many digits the numbers should have. Use + Add a number for problems with more than two numbers.
3. Set the number of problems and pick Horizontal or Stacked.
4. Click Generate. The preview shows the worksheet, followed by its answer key.
5. Click Print. To make a PDF, choose “Save as PDF” as the printer.

Click Generate again at any time for a new set of problems with the same settings. Theme at the top switches between light, dark, and your system setting.

Tick one or more of Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division. Each ticked operation opens its own settings. Problems from all ticked operations are split evenly, then shuffled together on one worksheet.

At least one operation must be ticked. No answer is ever zero for any operation.

Each number in a problem has its own minimum and maximum number of digits (up to 6).

Min – Max	Numbers used

1 – 3	1 to 999, with 1-, 2- and 3-digit numbers equally likely

More than two numbers: click + Add a number under the digit table to add a third number, like 12 + 7 + 30 = ___. A problem can have up to 5 numbers. Click the × beside a number to remove it. The first two numbers can’t be removed.

Multiplication: the max digits of all the numbers together can add up to 12 at most. Longer answers don’t fit neatly on the page.

Division: always uses exactly two numbers, the dividend (the number being divided) and the divisor. The dividend is always at least as large as the divisor.

Zero is never used as a number in a problem, so every missing-number problem has exactly one correct answer.

Choose which part of each problem is left blank for the student:

• First number: ___ × 11 = 88
• Second number: 5 × ___ = 35
• Third number (and so on, when you add more): 4 + 9 + ___ = 20
• Result: 8 × 3 = ___

If you tick more than one, each problem picks one of your ticked choices at random. If you tick none, the result is left blank.

When ticked, the first number is always bigger than everything taken away from it, so every answer is 1 or more. This applies whichever part is missing.

The first number needs enough digits to stay bigger. For example, a 1-digit number can’t be bigger than a 2-digit one, and 2 digits minus three 2-digit numbers won’t work either. If no problem could meet the rule, a message asks you to adjust the digits.

With the box unticked, answers can be negative (like 5 − 12 = −7) but still never zero.

When ticked, every division comes out even (for example, 56 ÷ 7 = 8).

When not ticked, some answers have a remainder, written with an R: 23 ÷ 4 = 5 R 3. Students writing the missing result should give both the quotient and the remainder.

The total number of problems on the worksheet, from 1 to 500. Worksheets that don’t fit on one page continue onto more pages automatically. Problems are never squeezed together to fit more on a page.

• Horizontal: the whole problem on one line, like 8 × 3 = ___.
• Stacked: the numbers are lined up in columns under each other, with a line above the answer and space below for working. A missing number shows as an empty box.

Division problems are always horizontal, even in Stacked mode.

Choose what appears at the top of the first worksheet page:

• Name and Date: blank lines for the student to fill in.
• Score: a blank followed by the total, like “___ / 30”.
• Label: your own title, such as “Week 3 — Times Tables”. Untick it to leave the title off.

Changing the header updates the preview right away and keeps the same problems.

Print opens your browser’s normal print window. For the best result:

• Paper size: Letter
• Margins: Default
• Scale: 100% (not “Fit to page”)
• Headers and footers: off, if your browser offers the option

To make a PDF, choose “Save as PDF” (or “Microsoft Print to PDF”) as the printer. Pages always print black on white, even in dark mode. Only the worksheet and answer key print. The settings are left out.

The answer key comes from the same problems as the worksheet. The numbering and order are identical, and the missing number is filled in, in red. It prints on its own pages after the worksheet.

Untick Include answer key after the worksheet to print student copies only. The key stays visible in the preview.

Because nothing is saved, a worksheet can’t be brought back after you click Generate again or reload the page. Print or save both parts together if you’ll need the key later.

Problems with your settings are shown in red next to the setting and listed above the Generate button. Click a message to jump to the setting.

Select at least one operation.

Tick Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication or Division.

… min digits is more than max digits.

The minimum can’t be larger than the maximum. Lower the min or raise the max.

Subtraction: with “No negative results”, the first number is too short…

The first number can’t be bigger than what’s being taken away. Give the first number more digits, give the other numbers fewer (or remove one), or untick No negative results.

Division: the dividend can’t be shorter than the divisor.

Give the dividend more digits or the divisor fewer.

Multiplication: the max digits add up to …

Lower some max digits, or remove a number, until the max digits add up to 12 or less.

Enter how many problems you want / must be a whole number / must be between 1 and 500.

Type a whole number from 1 to 500 in Number of problems.

Some problems are repeats.

A warning, not an error. The worksheet was still made. Small settings (like 1-digit addition with only the result missing) allow only a few different problems. Allow more digits or more missing-number positions for variety.

Settings changed — click Generate to apply them.

The preview still shows the last worksheet you generated. Printing now prints that worksheet, not your new settings.

Something went wrong…

An unexpected problem. The worksheet shown still matches its answer key. Click Generate again. If it keeps happening, reload the page. Your settings will go back to their defaults.
